Try it on! What if you’ve changed?
Earlier this year, I did a little modeling gig for a favorite local boutique. I learned so many things, as I’m always telling others, the lessons are there, they are all over the place, you just have to look for them.
Here were my takeaways:
-You always figure it out close to the end.
-Something quilted can still have edge.
-We should all play dress up a little more.
-Settle into something before you say it isn’t for you.
And this one got me good…
-Try it on! The thing you say “doesn’t look like you.” What if you’ve changed?
The owner of the shop had picked out some outfits for me, a few of them I adored immediately and couldn’t wait to put on. Others I looked at with wide eyes and whispered to myself “that doesn’t look like me” but I still tried it on. And here’s the thing, two of the items I said that about, I ended up absolutely loving. And so, this is a simple one. Try it on! Give it a chance, that thing that seems like it might not be for you. And don’t just throw it on and off, give yourself time to settle into too before you determine whether or not it’s for you.
Sometimes things aren’t always as they seem. Sometimes it takes longer than you think for things to happen and sometimes you’ve simply changed. And this applies to wearing bright colors or bold patterns, but it also applies to the things you are considering adding to your daily life and routines. Don’t limit yourself to what you’ve been. Yes, you should know yourself better than anyone else, but we’re always evolving, so give new things a try. What if you’ve changed?
